Where Are CEME Solenoid Valves Used? From Marine Hatcheries to Industrial Equipment

CEME solenoid valves are found in a surprisingly wide variety of equipment and fluid-control systems. From water management and marine hatcheries to air compressors, coffee machines and steam equipment, CEME valves provide automatic control of water, air, steam and other compatible fluids.

The video featured in this article provides an excellent real-world example: CEME solenoid valves operating as part of a marine hatchery system.

CEME Valves in Marine Hatcheries and Aquaculture

Marine hatcheries require carefully controlled water systems to create stable conditions for fish, shellfish and other aquatic species during their early stages of development.

Solenoid valves can be incorporated into automated systems to control functions such as:

  • Water supply to tanks
  • Filling and draining
  • Water circulation and distribution
  • Filtration and treatment systems
  • Automatic flushing
  • Flow diversion between different sections of a system
  • Process-water control
  • Isolation of individual tanks or equipment

Instead of requiring an operator to manually open or close a valve, a solenoid valve can respond instantly to a controller, timer, sensor or other electrical signal.

The CEME valves shown in our video demonstrate how a relatively small component can play an important role within a much larger automated water-management system.

For marine environments, the exact valve body, seals and internal materials must always be selected according to the fluid being controlled and its chemical composition.

Water Management and Water Treatment

Water control is one of the major application areas for CEME solenoid valves.

CEME manufactures valves specifically identified for water management, sanitary and water-treatment applications. Depending on the valve series, they can be used to automatically start, stop or redirect water throughout equipment and processing systems.

Applications can include water-treatment equipment, dispensing systems, filtration equipment, sanitation systems and automated water distribution.

Air Compressors

CEME is also widely associated with the compressed-air industry.

CEME Series 83 valves, for example, are specifically designed for air-compressor applications. They are available in several connection sizes and configurations for controlling compressed air within compressor systems.

Depending on the compressor design, solenoid valves can be involved in air control, unloading and other automated compressor functions.

Coffee and Espresso Equipment

Another major CEME market is one that many people encounter every day without realizing it: coffee and espresso machines.

CEME manufactures both 2-way and 3-way valves designed for coffee and professional espresso equipment. These compact valves can control water and pressure through different stages of the brewing system.

Steam Equipment

CEME valves are also used extensively with steam.

Different CEME valve families are designed for applications including:

  • Steam generators
  • Professional ironing equipment
  • Steam-cleaning equipment
  • Other steam-control systems

Valve construction, seal material, temperature and pressure ratings become particularly important when selecting a solenoid valve for steam service.

Industrial and OEM Equipment

Beyond these recognizable applications, CEME valves can be integrated into countless pieces of OEM equipment.

Whenever a machine needs an electrical signal to automatically control a compatible fluid, a solenoid valve may be part of the solution.

Depending on the CEME series, valves are available in different configurations up to 3", zero differential, including:

Normally Closed (NC) – closed when the coil is not energized.

Normally Open (NO) – open when the coil is not energized.

2/2 Way – commonly used for simple ON/OFF fluid control.

3/2 Way – used when the system needs an additional flow, diversion or exhaust path.

Direct Acting – capable of operating without relying on differential pressure.

Pilot Operated – commonly used where larger flow rates are required and sufficient differential pressure is available.

This variety allows CEME valves to be incorporated into applications ranging from small appliances to larger industrial fluid-control systems.

At Hydronics Depot Inc., we supply a wide range of CEME solenoid valves, coils and related components for replacement, OEM and industrial applications.

If you are trying to identify an existing CEME valve or determine the correct valve for an application, contact us with the valve part number, voltage, fluid, connection size and operating pressure, and our team can help identify the appropriate configuration.
