NASS Magnet Solenoid Coils: One Coil Platform, Many Electric & Pneumatic Valve Applications

NASS Magnet Solenoid Coils: One Coil Platform, Many Electric & Pneumatic Valve Applications

When a valve coil fails, replacing the entire valve assembly is often unnecessary. NASS Magnet solenoid coils are widely used throughout industrial automation, process control, and valve applications, with designs that can be found on or matched to many different manufacturers’ valve bodies and pilot operators.

NASS Magnet’s modular approach makes its coils especially useful for maintenance, OEM production, and replacement applications. Depending on the series, NASS Magnet offers different coil sizes, power ratings, electrical connections, and AC/DC voltage options.

One Coil Manufacturer – Many Valve Brands

Depending on the valve series, tube diameter, coil interface, wattage, and electrical requirements, NASS Magnet coils can be used with or found on a wide variety of valve and pilot systems, including:

  • Hafner
  • NASS Magnet pilot valves
  • Camozzi
  • Fluid Automation Systems (FAS)
  • Festo
  • Tameson
  • Aignep
  • ODE Ex mb ATEX valves
  • Parker
  • STC Valve
  • Pneumax
  • Bosch Rexroth
  • SMC
  • Shako
  • Aventics
  • GSR
  • ADJUSA
  • And many other industrial valve manufacturers

This makes NASS Magnet an important option when trying to source a replacement coil without replacing the complete valve.

Compatibility should always be confirmed by the coil system, physical dimensions, armature or tube size, voltage, wattage, electrical connection, and required approvals. A coil that looks similar is not necessarily interchangeable.

Wide Range of AC and DC Voltages

NASS Magnet coils are available in a broad range of electrical configurations for equipment used throughout North America, Europe, and international markets.

Depending on the coil family, available voltages can include:

  • 12 VDC
  • 6 VDC
  • 24 VDC
  • 24 VAC
  • 48 VAC
  • 48 VDC
  • 60 VDC
  • 60 VAC
  • 110 VAC
  • 120 VAC
  • 130 VAC
  • 120 VDC
  • 125 VDC
  • 220 VDC
  • 380 VAC
  • 220 VAC
  • 230 VAC
  • 240 VAC

Additional voltages and power ratings are available depending on the specific NASS Magnet series.

This broad voltage selection can make it easier to replace an existing coil while keeping the original valve body and system configuration in service.

Certifications for Industrial Applications

NASS Magnet is also known for offering coils designed for demanding industrial environments. Depending on the exact model and series, certifications and approvals may include:

  • CE
  • UL
  • CSA
  • ATEX
  • Ex mb
  • FM
  • Other international approvals depending on the model

Certifications are specific to the individual coil and product series, so the required approval should always be confirmed against the exact part number.

NASS Magnet Ex mb and ATEX Coils

For equipment operating in potentially explosive environments, NASS Magnet also offers specially designed hazardous-area coil options, including ATEX and Ex mb configurations.

These types of coils can be found in applications involving:

  • Oil and gas equipment
  • Chemical processing
  • Industrial automation
  • Process control systems
  • Pneumatic valve pilot control
  • Actuated valve systems
  • Paint and coating equipment
  • Machinery operating in classified environments

NASS Magnet coils are also used with certain ODE Ex mb ATEX valve configurations, providing another option for applications requiring certified electrical components.

How to Identify a NASS Magnet Coil

One of the easiest ways to identify a NASS Magnet coil is by looking for the identification or article number marked directly on the coil.

On many NASS Magnet coils, this identification can be found on the top surface of the coil around the center armature opening, similar to the coil shown above. Depending on the particular series, identification information may also appear on the side or on a nameplate.

Replace the Coil – Not Necessarily the Valve

Whether the existing valve is from Hafner, Camozzi, Festo, Parker, Pneumax, SMC, Aventics, Aignep, ODE, FAS, GSR, Shako, STC, Bosch Rexroth, ADJUSA or another manufacturer, replacing the coil alone may be possible.

At Hydronics Depot Inc., we can help identify the correct NASS Magnet replacement by checking:

  • Existing coil part number
  • Voltage
  • AC or DC
  • Wattage
  • Coil dimensions
  • Tube or armature dimensions
  • Electrical connection
  • Required certifications

Rather than replacing a complete valve because of a failed electrical coil, send us the coil markings and pictures of the existing valve and coil. We can help determine whether a compatible NASS Magnet replacement is available.

Disclaimer

Not sure which NASS Magnet coil you need? Contact Hydronics Depot Inc. before purchasing so we can help identify the exact coil required for your valve and application. Compatibility should always be confirmed before ordering.
